Experienced in decorating the White House for two years during the holidays and the 2017 White House holiday decorator, Claire Jones will present a program of behind the scenes work done to transform the White House into a winter wonderland. From the selection process to the actual work of climbing scaffolding, wiring ornaments, and the work involved in decorating the nineteen-foot official Blue Room tree are included. She gives a room by room walk-through of the White House including rooms that aren’t on public tours. History nuggets of the White House are included to make this a fascinating look at how Christmas is planned and celebrated in the ‘People’s House’.
Concluding the presentation, Ms. Jones will demo a “Williamsburg” type of wreath that can be created with natural materials. (10-15 minutes)
