The Old Theater in Oriental and O’Town Restaurant are teaming up again to present another special event of theater and fine dining on December 18, 19 and 20; 6:30 PM at O’Town’s Pub located at 518 S Water St, Oriental, NC 28571. This event will feature Scrooge’s Christmas which is an adaption by Ken Jones of the Charles Dickens’ classic tale A Christmas Carol. Actors portray all the characters of this Christmas tradition which include Christmas carols where the audience can sing along to get you in the Christmas spirit.
During the Victorian era of the 1800’s, the ghost story aspect of A Christmas Carol, is emphasized. The play is narrated by Jacob Marley who returns to earth after being deceased for seven years to try and reform his ex-partner Ebenezer Scrooge. The miserly Scrooge is seen frowning at carolers, chasing away charity collectors, and making life miserable for his clerk, Bob Cratchit. But Marley appears to Scrooge on Christmas Eve and sends three spirits: Christmas Past, Present and Future. Each spirit reveals a different aspect of Christmas and in the end, old Scrooge is changed and celebrates Christmas dinner with the Cratchit family.
